Detoxification of cats

Anyone fortunate enough to live with a cat knows: the domestic feline is a member of the family. We can only truly be well when our incredibly independent yet irresistibly lovable bundle of fur is also well.

WHAT ARE COMMON DISEASES IN CATS?

Unfortunately, cats are also susceptible to various diseases that can affect their well-being and, in some cases, even be life-threatening. The most common illnesses include:

CAT FLU

Cat flu is a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by bacteria or viruses. It primarily affects young animals and can lead to death if left untreated. Symptoms include nasal discharge, sneezing, watery and sticky eyes, fever, and loss of appetite. If your cat displays these signs, you should definitely consult a veterinarian, who will usually administer antibiotic treatment. Cats can be vaccinated against cat flu.

FELINE PANLEUKOPENIA (FELINE DISTEMPER)

Feline panleukopenia (feline distemper) is also a highly contagious and life-threatening feline disease caused by viruses. It manifests with symptoms such as high fever, lethargy, reluctance to move, loss of appetite, and vomiting. Urgent veterinary treatment with hydration through infusions and serum antibodies is necessary to prevent a severe course of the disease. Vaccinations can prevent feline distemper.

FIP

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a highly contagious and life-threatening infection caused by coronaviruses. Symptoms of this usually fatal disease include a bloated body due to fluid accumulation, loss of appetite, lethargy, breathing difficulties, and eye inflammation. Currently, there are no specific treatments for FIP, and veterinarians can only provide symptomatic care. The best prevention against the disease is vaccination.

FELINE LEUKEMIA

Feline leukemia is a life-threatening viral disease that disrupts the formation of blood cells. Symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, weakness, and weight loss. There is no direct treatment for feline leukemia, but you can vaccinate your cat against it.

CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE

Chronic kidney problems mainly affect older animals. In this disease, kidney function gradually declines. Symptoms of kidney disease include nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue, vomiting, weight loss, increased drinking, increased urination, discolored urine, dehydration, and bad breath. Chronic kidney insufficiency is not curable, but special low-protein diet helps relieve the kidneys and slow down the progression of the disease.

PARASITES

A variety of parasites can infest cats. These parasites are categorized as internal and external parasites. Internal parasites include various worms, while external parasites include ticks, fleas, and mites. Parasites pose a health risk to affected animals: fleas can cause skin irritation, ticks can transmit diseases like Lyme disease, and worms affect the gastrointestinal health. There are various preventive measures against parasite infestations, including tablets, spot-ons, or sprays.

FELINE DIABETES

Cats can also develop diabetes. In diabetes, the pancreas produces insufficient insulin, leading to elevated blood sugar levels and a weakened immune system. Untreated feline diabetes can be life-threatening. Symptoms include weight loss despite a good appetite, increased drinking, and lethargy. Diabetes can be well-managed: dietary changes help in mildercases, while insulin injections stabilize blood sugar levels in more severe cases.

TOXINS IN THE BODY INCREASE THE RISK OF ILLNESS

Like all living beings, our feline friends are increasingly exposed to harmful substances. In principle, a cat's own detoxification system is responsible for binding and eliminating toxins from their body. The key organs involved in detoxification are primarily the kidneys and the liver, but also the intestines, lungs, and skin. The unimpeded functionality of these organs is vital. If the organism cannot adequately eliminate toxins, it can lead to diseases and potentially even death.

Among the many sources of toxins for cats are:

  • Chemical additives in cat food (such as preservatives)
  • Mold toxins in cat food (introduced through contaminated grains)
  • Pesticide residues in the plant-based components of cat food
  • Medication residues in the animal-based components of cat foo
  • Medications (such as antibiotics, cortisone, anesthetics)
  • Vaccines
  • Antiparasitic agents (used to ward off ticks, fleas, worms)
  • Heavy metals (e.g., from seafood in the diet)
  • Residues of hormones, medications, chlorine, and lead in drinking water
  • Automobile exhaust fumes
  • Tobacco smoke (if the cat lives in a smoking household)

In combination, these individual stressors can overload a cat's own detoxification system and, over time, harm the animals' health. Signs such as decreasing vitality, recurring infections, and chronic illnesses are indicative of increased toxin exposure.

HOW CAN I GENTLY DETOXIFY MY CAT?

If your furry friend frequently falls ill, seems persistently lethargic, and veterinary treatments provide only temporary relief, it may be worthwhile to consider a detoxification therapy.

A gentle detoxification of cats over an extended period is recommended to avoid further burdening the animal's organism. A gentle detoxification therapy combines three elements:

  1. The actual detoxification, which involves binding the toxins to a carrier substance and subsequently eliminating them from the body.
  2. The stabilization of the organs involved in the body's natural detoxification system, primarily the liver, kidneys, and intestines.
  3. Strengthening the immune system.

DETOXIFICATION AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE

Detoxification treatments are particularly useful as a preventive measure when our pet has to cope with an additional toxin burden.

This is the case, for example,

  • after an antibiotic treatment
  • after anesthesia
  • after the use of pain medications
  • after the administration of antiparasitic drugs.

HOW CAN THE PRODUCTS FROM ROOT - BILL & COO HELP?

ROOT Clean Slate is a liquid dietary supplement with remarkable effects on the health of its users. It is based on the mineral Klinoptilolith, extracted from volcanic ash in Utah. In ROOT Clean Slate, it is used as silica, often known as silicic acid. Due to its unique structure, it is believed to be capable of binding and removing toxins from the body.

Additional ingredients in ROOT Clean Slate include high-dose vitamin C, known for its ability to bind free radicals in the body, reducing the risk of cancer. Moreover, it strengthens the immune system and supports the natural metabolism. The final ingredient in ROOT Clean Slate is potassium sorbate, which stabilizes the product's formula. Therefore, the product contains exclusively valuable natural ingredients.

Due to the remarkable success of ROOT Clean Slate and positive user experiences, the product range has been expanded. With the "ROOT - Bill & Coo" line, four products are now available specifically designed to promote the well-being of your cat.
